Garfield Jackson FRAM
After early lessons with Beryl Morreau, (founding member of the Macnaughton String Quartet) herself a pupil of Lionel Tertis, Garfield Jackson attended the Yehudi Menuhin School. A scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music enabled him to study viola with Peter Schidlof and Stephen Shingles, alongside violin with Ralph Holmes, and chamber music with Sidney Griller.
In 1978 he became a founding member of the Endellion String Quartet and remained with them for 42 years. The quartet toured extensively worldwide and recorded for EMI, Virgin Classics, and Warner Classics. The recording of their complete Beethoven cycle (including the viola quintets) was met with high acclaim. For over 28 years they were quartet in residence at Cambridge University where they coached chamber music as well as giving regular performances. During this time they were given the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
Garfield has also performed chamber music with many groups including the Alberni, Amadeus, Chillingirian, Maggini, Elias, Heath Quartets, and the Nash Ensemble. Since 1979 he has regularly attended Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove including concerts with Sandor Vegh, Andras Schiff, Ferenc Rados, amongst others. He has enjoyed collaborating with many international artists including Maxim Vengerov, Joshua Bell, Norbert Brainin, Sir Stephen Hough, Steven Isserlis and Nigel Kennedy.
As a soloist, Garfield has performed at the Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Barbican Centre, and has also broadcast several times for the BBC. Furthermore, he appears regularly as guest principal viola with many of Britains leading orchestra’s.
Teaching positions past and present include:- Royal Academy of Music, Cambridge University, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal Northern College of Music, Chamber Studio and the Purcell School, as well as visiting teaching at the Yehudi Menuhin School, Yale, Bloomington, and MIT in the USA. From 2008-2018 he was Artistic Associate at the Lake District Summer Music School and Festival.

Winnie Wu
Winnie Wu took up residence in Britain aged 17 after being awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Vivian Langrish, Gordon Green, Philip Fowke, and Christopher Elton. During her studies at the Academy she was awarded numerous prizes as a soloist and for chamber music. In 1981 she won a further scholarship to enable her studies as a post-graduate at the Academy.
She was a winner of the Dudley Piano Competition and the Hong Kong Young Musician of the Year Award, she took part in master classes given by Vlado Perlemuter at the Fontainbleau Festival and has performed as concerto soloist with orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Croydon Symphony Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Winnie has given broadcasts for radio and television in her native Hong Kong and has appeared as soloist at the South Bank Arts Complex, Fairfield Halls and the Wigmore Hall. After taking a 15year break from her career to concentrate on family responsibilities she has returned to the concert platform to give regular recitals all around Hertfordshire and London. She has performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, the Emperor concerto by Beethoven, as well as the Shostakovich second piano concerto, Tchaikovsky concerto, Brahms second concerto as well as second and third concertos by Rachmaninoff.
