Gardening 101: Year Round Growing

Truly Living Well's Gardening 101 classes teach fundamental to advanced concepts for growing food where you live. The classes take place the first Saturday of every month at our Collegetown Farm. All classes include farmer led instruction and hands on experience, meaning that you will be getting your hands in the dirt!

Our November class, Year Round Growing covers techniques for growing year round and the advantages of doing so. We briefly discuss the financial benefits and investments needed to grow year round as well as sustainable and economical tips for doing so. Here at TLW we grow all 52 weeks of the year! We will discuss some of our techniques for growing winter hardy crops as well as best practices for maintaining crop and soil quality during frost. In addition you can expect some of the following topics:

• Garden planning for next year
• Seed buying
• Knowing your garden climate
• Plant, plant, plant!
• Preparing for frost
• And more!

After sign up you will be sent an email with things to bring and what to wear!

 Child Attendance Policy:

Self-managed children ages 7 and above are welcome to attend Gardening 101 classes, with accompanying adult supervision. One child priced ticket must purchased for each child in attendance, with adherence to our 2:1 child to parent ratio.Children must remain with parents at all times and not wander around the facility. If at any time Truly Living Well staff feels your children are interrupting or distracting to the class, we may respectfully ask that family leaves class immediately (class admission nonrefundable). Due to the interactive nature of the classes and for the safety of all, children handling tools and plants must remain in the training area with the adults at all times .We pack a lot of learning into each class to give participates the best experience possible. Each gardening class is meant to teach, show, and guide you through relevant gardening exercises.

*A number of our exercises are too advanced for many children to quickly grasp. These exercises are better taught to children with guidance and patience from their guardian or parent at home after the adult has learned the techniques in class, or register your child for a children's garden class or summer experience.

Class Cancellation Disclaimer:

Each class must reach a minimum of 7 people to be hosted. If for some reason this number is not met class will be cancelled and you will be contacted for a refund or for your purchase to be redeemed for another class.

Inclement Weather Policy:

In the case of inclement weather, TLW reserves the right to cancel gardening classes. You will be notified by email immediately with options for a refund or for your purchase to be redeemed for another class.
