Garden Studies
A 3-Week Watercolor Workshop
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE REGISTERING
For those who love botanicals and simply can't get enough, Garden Studies takes a deeper dive into the colorful side of the garden. While Botanicals focuses heavily on foliage, leaves, and understanding greens, this workshop places a greater emphasis on florals, decorative details, and expressive watercolor techniques. Each week you'll complete a beautiful finished painting while exploring new approaches to color, composition, layering, and mixed media.
Week 1: Folk Art Florals & Metallic Details
Discover how watercolor, metallic accents, and decorative patterns can work together to create stunning folk-art-inspired florals. We'll explore layering, simple botanical shapes, line work, and embellishments using gel pens and metallic details.
Project: Decorative folk-art floral painting.
Week 2: Lush Garden Florals
Learn how to paint loose, expressive florals full of movement, color, and depth. We'll focus on creating vibrant blooms, building balanced compositions, and letting watercolor create beautiful, unexpected effects.
Project: Large garden-inspired floral bouquet.
Week 3: Vibrant Orchids
Orchids may look intimidating, but we'll break them down into simple, approachable shapes. Learn how to create luminous petals, rich color variations, and elegant floral compositions that are sure to impress.
Project: Vibrant orchid study.
Prerequisite: None - but Introduction to Watercolor or Watercolor 101 is highly encouraged before attending.
Please note: This workshop is intentionally kept small to allow for individualized instruction. All registrations are final. No refunds, credits, transfers, or make-up classes will be provided for missed sessions. Please ensure you can attend all three classes before registering.
