This course guides you through the process of painting with acrylics to create unique garden scenes. The tutor will help you offering instruction and demonstration on how to use colour, texture and perspective to achieve a painterly, Impressionistic style as well as how to paint the light and shadows that create depth and dimension in your acrylic painting. This course involves working in acrylics. 

We will look at how one might begin on a ‘blank canvas’, how to build up a work paying attention to sketching, tone and colour, how to spot problems along the way and finishing touches.

•How to sketch a composition 

•Simplify and separate tonal values into areas of light and shadow,  

•How to use contrast, warm and cool colours effectively  

•How to mix and balance naturalistic greens creating a subtle acrylic palette and a realistic sense of sunlight hitting the leaves and petals. 

•Painting techniques: dry brush, layering, flat brush, gradient, glazing, visual colour mixing

• palette. 
• Cadmium Red
• Alizarin Crimson
• Cadmium Yellow
•  Lemon Yellow
• Cobalt Blue
• Ultramarine Blue
• Burnt Umber
• Titanium White acrylic paint 

The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.
