1. If you are bringing your own car, then you can park it inside the Car Parking area
2. You can take the Metro and get down at Howrah Station. This is the easiest way.
3. You can take a ferry to cross the river from the opposite bank to reach Howrah Station ferry ghat
4. Our programme will end at Ramkrishnapur Ghat. From there you can either take the ferry (subject to availability) to cross the river to Chandpal Ghat, or return to Howrah Matro or even take a Toto to Howrah Maidan Metro, whichever suits you. For those who will park your own vehicle, you can walk down from Ramkrishnapur Ghat.
The river Ganga (or Hooghly) flows eternally dividing the two cities of Kolkata and Howrah. Welcome to the west bank of the river, in Howrah, for a spectacular Ganga arati darshan on the banks of the river at Ramkrishnapur Ghat. Walk down with us when we show you some beautiful landmarks along this side of the river. The Kolkata skyline looks awesome from Howrah side. We will also take you by a local conveyance (Toto) to a place of historical value.
June 24th is the appearance anniversary of Ganga Devi, the goddess of the River Ganges.
This is literally the “birthday or descent of mother Ganges – Ganga Ma”. Throughout India this festival lasts for ten days beginning on Amavasya (dark moon night) and going through to the Dasami tithi (tenth phase of the Moon, the day before Pandava Nirjal Ekadasi).
“Festivals connected with rivers are essentially bathing festivals. Ganga Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of Jaishthya month of Bengali calendar. River Ganga is worshipped as a mother as well as a Goddess, particularly by people of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Bengal through which the river flows. On this day, if a devotee is unable to visit and bathe in the river Ganga, then Ganga jal kept in most Hindu homes is used for purification. A bath in the river is said to purify the bather of all sins. The Ganga is revered all over India even in places far from its course.
