Ganavya’s voice seems to rise from somewhere ancient, yet fully present—rooted in Tamil traditions, spiritual jazz, and ambient textures. A rare and fearless artist, she weaves South Asian poetry and devotional music into experimental forms that feel both intimate and vast. Her concerts are less performance than offering—open, emotional, quietly radical.
Hailed by The Wall Street Journal as “among modern music’s most compelling vocalists,” and described by The Guardian as having a voice “with a delicate emotive heft that could turn stoics into sobbing wrecks,” Ganavya has worked with artists such as esperanza spalding, Vijay Iyer, Shabaka Hutchings and Floating Points.
After a luminous Zürich debut, she returns this fall with new music from Daughter of a Temple, released on Nils Frahm’s LEITER label—a deeply collaborative and spiritual recording drawing from ritual, jazz, and South Asian classical forms. Also featured will be pieces from her newest album Nilam, continuing her journey through voice, language, and devotion.
