About this Event
Game Changers: Women in Sport & Tech
Game Changers: Women in Sport & Tech is a groundbreaking event that will explore the intersection of sports and technology – with a spotlight on the role of women.
Powered by our partners Cisco and Data #3, and set against the backdrop of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this event will provide attendees with an understanding of the opportunities emerging from the upcoming games for innovative technologies, the powerful learnings that can be taken from the high-performance world of sport, and how it's up to all of us to ensure women are given equal opportunities across both the sports and tech sectors.
What do we know?
- There are several parallels between the world of sport and business - from vision to strategy, recruitment and leadership, a coach's job is akin to business leaders
- Participation of women in sports drops as girls and women get older. 46% of Australian girls aged 0-14 participate in organised sport at least once a week, which drops to 32% for women and girls aged 15+.
- Female professional athletes still need to maintain outside employment just to cover their cost of living, while male professional athletes do not.
- Less than 5% of sports startups in Australia are led by women.
These are all points that show a conversation needs to be had about what we can learn from the world of sport, and how the world of sport and technology can share learnings about diversity, inclusion and representation.
How do we fix it?
There is no silver bullet, but at Women in Digital, we know that "you can't be what you can't see" which is our daily motto. Through engaging anecdotes and thought-provoking discussions, our esteemed speakers will share their experiences and insights, offering actionable solutions and strategies for fostering inclusivity and diversity in sports and sports tech - increasing diversity and visibility of women across both sectors in preparation for 2032.
Join us as we celebrate the game changers, trailblazers, and innovators driving progress at the intersection of women, sports, and technology.

Charity Partner
For this Long Lunch we have partnered with The Aussie Athlete Fund which was founded to create a sustainable athlete economy so our next generation and those who follow, can wear the green and gold and can retire not in debt, but with the education, connections and skills required to flourish outside of sport.
Many talented athletes are denied the opportunity to pursue their dreams of representing Australia because they or their families can’t afford to fund the escalating costs of living, training and competition fees.
Donate directly here or via our donation option in Eventbrite.
