GalUP's "Spilling the Tea on Breast Cancer" Awareness on 5th Oct 2024: "Spilling the TEA" on Myths, Madness, and Miracles:
This event aims to “spill the tea” on the realities of breast cancer, cutting through the myths, confronting the madness, and celebrating the miracles that patients, survivors, and their families experience. It is an invitation to an open, honest, and empathetic conversation about the challenges faced by those diagnosed with breast cancer, with a special focus on the often-overlooked cases of male breast cancer.
A Cross-Cultural, Transcontinental Dialogue: The Tea Party symbolizes more than just a gathering; it represents a merger of minds and hearts across continents. As a hybrid event, it will feature discussions led by both Singaporeans and those in the US, highlighting how diverse cultures, age groups and genders approach the diagnosis, treatment, and support of breast cancer patients.
Creating Empathy in the Workplace and Home: One of the core topics will be how to create a more empathetic working environment for both men and women diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. James Andrade of Catapult by CapitaLand and Puan Noor Aini Shaik Awab CEO of Hong Leong Islamic Asset Management from Malaysia will lead the segment on Compassionate Leadership: Supporting Employees Through Cancer .
Bridging the Empathetic and the Diagnosed: This hybrid gathering will shed light on the often-overlooked experiences of men with breast cancer. By bridging empathy and diagnosis, we aim to foster understanding and build supportive communities at home and work.
