About this Event

Gallivant is a single day TTRPG fundraiser event for Cwtches to Gaza, a local mutual aid group.

On August 2nd from 11-7 you can join one of our talented GMs on an oneshot adventure @Arthole in Canton.

GMs will lead you on a oneshot adventure through systems old and new, with pre-written characters available for each story. You don’t need anything to play at any of our tables - just bring yourself! You are welcome to bring dice, pencils and paper too if you wish, but equipment will be provided. We recommend that people bring a packed lunch, but there are also several cafes and supermarkets in the area.

Please bear in mind any content warning or setting descriptions provided for each game, as well as if it is friendly to beginner players. We have tried to be as clear as possible to the content in the adventures. Though every game takes place in the realm of fiction, we understand some themes or events in our games will be upsetting or might feel in some way close to real-life. We will have processes in place on the day to make sure you have a clear line of communication with your GMs about your limits and triggers, called The Lines and Veils process.

There will also be a raffle and an outfit competition for those who wish to participate, for which the theme is Dragon/Slayer.

---Q&A---

11-7 sounds like a long day! Won’t that be tiring?

The timings were chosen to give you the most optimum oneshot experience, with two breaks to give your brain a rest, to drink and eat, and multiplie shorter breaks for your comfort. Your tables GM will work with the players to create the most comfortable experience possible for the unique needs of your table. Don't be afraid to go at your own pace. Your game will finish some time from 6-7.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive promptly from 11-11.20. We won’t turn you away if you are late, but we can’t promise the game will wait for you if you are very late.

Can we book as a group?

Of course! Please be careful to book the exact amount of tickets you need in one go, if you can, to make sure you and your friends get to play on the same table if that’s what you’d like to do.

Can I bring food into the venue, and eat during play?

Yes, you can! We only ask that you be respectful to the venue and the GM and try to be as clean and tidy as possible.

Do I have to dress up?

No, it's completely optional. Do what makes you most comfortable.

Long ago, a wicked robber knight named Rothgar Wolfsbane plagued this area, pillaging and plundering wherever he could. He fought against everyone – humans, dwarves, and elves – but it was the orcs who eventually brought about his downfall. An orc clan marched on Wolfsbane’s castle and stormed it. Many lives were lost that day, but in the end Wolfsbane fell and his castle was ravaged by flames.

Brave fortune hunters have felt compelled to explore the robber knight’s castle in search of ancient treasures, but none have ever returned.

Will you be the first?

Dragonbane is a classic fantasy tabletop roleplaying game full of magic, mystery, and adventure. It is designed from the ground up to facilitate fast and furious play, with very little prep time and adventures that are a breeze to run. This is a game with room for laughs at the table, while still offering brutal challenges for the adventurers. We call this playstyle “mirth and mayhem roleplaying” – great for long campaigns, but also perfect for a one-shot.

Brewdy & the Bleat

6 seats available.

Monster of the Week.

Genre: Mystery

Investigation, Supernatural, Mythical, Faerie

CW: Alcohol/Drugs(magical), intoxication(magical)

For the past few weeks at Mount Caprine Institute there have been several incidents with the clerical and academic staff. Classes are cancelled so the professor can play hacky-sack with the class, the head of Student Services told the Dean “You’re not my Mom” and other instances of the adults of the college acting in a manner far more suited to teenagers.

An English faculty admin thinks this seems fairly out of the ordinary, so they call your team , because you specialize in out of the ordinary.

Inspired by shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, and The X-Files, Monster of the Week focuses on investigating mysteries, and battling supernatural creatures using a system based on the Powered by the Apocalypse engine. The game emphasizes narrative and collaborative storytelling, you will get to have a showdown with the Monster but until you've solved its weakness it can always come back. No TTRPG experience necessary, familiarity with the inspirations welcome, but willingness to play is the only requirement.
