Helvetica: lowercase, an exhibition exploring the typographic elements of the Helvetica font accompanied by an ambient sound installation, opens on the MAP St. Louis campus at First Fridays in Grand Center, February 7th from 6pm to 9pm. Artist, Travis Janssen, who will be present at the opening, draws inspiration from Op art, traditional photographic techniques combined with synthetic media, spirographs and sacred geometry to immerse viewers in a meditative space. Janssen comes to us from Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he is Assistant Professor, Head of Printmaking and Assistant Director at the School of Art and Design. Please join us for light refreshments at this artist’s reception which is open to the public. @mapstlouis #firstfridays
