Take a closer look at the design discoveries of leading Japanese creators through a series of spotlight talks led by the Japan House London team taking place within the gallery exhibition Design Discoveries: Towards a DESIGN MUSEUM JAPAN.
The exhibition asks questions about the significance of design and what should be included in a permanent collection of Japanese design if such a collection existed. Each section of the exhibition features one design treasure chosen by a Japanese creator, ranging from spinning tops to Jōmon period village design and 3D sportswear.
Learn more about the participating creators, including architect Tane Tsuyoshi, textile designer Sudō Reiko and design engineer Tagawa Kinya. Discover what made them choose their design treasure and how it inspires them in their own practice.
The series consists of short presentations by Japan House London team members. Each session, showcasing a single section of the exhibition, is packed with information and invites guests to reflect on and share what design means to them.
Spotlight talks last up to 30 minutes and begin in front of the Gallery on Japan House London’s Lower Ground floor promptly at the start time.
