About this Event
Join us for an intimate, in-gallery performance by Congolese dancer and choreographer Faustin Linyekula. He will explore how the body can carry and reflect the histories of those who have come before, and do so in the presence of weapons from the Lengola people (the maternal branch of his family), which are part of the Fowler collection.
“...It will be a dialogue with traces of my ancestors that were taken from the land generations ago. I'll listen as these pieces tell the stories of yesteryears' life in Lengolaland, and I'll dance the life of today, after the war, and crisis, and war....”—Faustin Linyekula
“Linyekula is quite possibly the most important artist working on the African continent today.” —Frieze magazine
