***PLEASE NOTE***,DUE TO A SCHEDULING CONFLICT WITH THE GREENSBORO SCIENCE CENTER, THE SEPTEMBER MEETING DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SEPT. 12TH (THE SECOND FRIDAY); THE MEETING WILL STILL BE HELD AT GSC, HOWEVER, WE WILL MEET IN ONE OF THE ADVENTURE THEATERS FOR A SPECIAL PRESENTATION.
From the GSC:
We’ll gather in one of our Adventure Theaters, where innovative technology joins with theatrical science storytelling that’s designed to inspire the imaginations as much as to expand the minds of families who visit the Center. Using 360-degree projections, projection mapping, augmented reality and original character animations — all developed in-house at the GSC— we’ll share with you our newest show, which follows the story of powered flight from the sands of Kitty Hawk to the surface of Mars.
“Once Upon a Time in the Sky,” binds the rubber band powered toy helicopter that inspired the boyhood Wright Brothers together with the solar powered Ingenuity copter that marked the first flight on Mars. It is a story of impossible dreams and daring actions that eventually led to a scrap of fabric from that first aircraft soaring over the surface of the Red Planet. It’s a tale tying together planes, interplanetary fight. . . and penguins! It’ll be a different and entertaining glimpse for GAC into ways we tell science stories at the Greensboro Science Center.
Afterward, there will be a short meet-and-greet and business meeting in the downstairs dining area.
NOTE: The October meeting will return to the regular schedule on the third Friday, Oct. 17th.
