What is Silog?
Silog is a classic Filipino meal combination that consists of garlic fried rice (sinangag), a fried egg (itlog), and a protein—usually tapa (beef), tocino (sweet cured pork), or longganisa (Filipino sausage). The name "silog" comes from combining "si" (from sinangag) and "log" (from itlog), with different variations based on the protein, such as:
- Tapsilog – with tapa (marinated beef)
- Tocilog – with tocino (sweet cured pork)
- Longsilog – with longganisa (Filipino sausage)
- Bangsilog – with bangus (milkfish)
- Spamsilog – with Spam
