FWS Quarterly Networking Event: Fall Composting!
About this Event
Local food waste stakeholders will gather at New Belgium Brewing Company on Satruday, November 7th from 1:00 pm -4:00 pm to network, enjoy light bites and free swag, pick up some finished compost (bring your own bucket!), and drop off rotting jack-o-lanterns, gourds, and other organic fall decor for composting. Please join us for this free event!
Take Back Jack!
Buncombe County and The City of Asheville will host a fall pumpkin and gourd collection throughout the networking event, encouraging residents who want to compost their fall decor to utilize this avenue of disposal instead of the Residential Food Scraps Drop-Off program.
While pumpkins and gourds are technically accepted materials in the program, the size and weight of pumpkins/gourds puts a significant strain on current collection infrastructure. Help keep our drop-off locations clean and usable for all and compost your pumpkins at this free event! As an incentive, Buncombe County and the City of Asheville will be providing free finished compost (bring your own bucket!) to all attendees.
