The Future of the Blues is a collaboration between the leading up-and-coming blues musicians from across the Mid-Atlantic Region and beyond. All of the members of the core band and guests are successful in their own right, as band leaders or sidemen in touring national and regional acts. This is not a group of students from School of Rock, rather a group of polished young musicians who have already acquired the experience to play with the best bluesmen around. This year’s special guest is a young harmonica player from Canton, Ohio named Jake Friel. Jake has toured extensively all over America, is a Stage 5 Amps signature artist, and was also an International Blues Challenge semi-finalist. Jake’s vocals are soulful, setting him apart from most other front men. His harp playing has been hailed as generational. DO NOT MISS THIS CHANCE TO SEE JAKE MAKING HIS FIRST DELAWARE APPEARANCE!
Derek “Harmonica Slim” Matheson hails from just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He currently fronts Slim and the Perkolators, a killer harp driven band who has played up and down the east coast. Slim has been nominated for a Blues Blast Music Award for best debut album of the year in 2020, gone to the semifinals of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, and toured from Maine to Florida.
Zach Lees is a young guitar slinger from Maryland. ZZach plays with the Mikey Junior Band and has been all over the eastern seaboard with him. At the age of 26, Zach is a monster guitar player who has been hailed by greats like Little Charlie Baty as “the future of blues guitar.”
Jeff Attakorah plays extremely soulful guitar, is all but 25 years old, and hails from Delaware. Jeff fronts his own band The Blues Reincarnation Project playing festivals and venues through the tri-state area and beyond. Jeff has played at the Lancaster Roots and Blues Ramble, Saint Georges Bluesfest, the Bucks County, East Petersburg, and Briggs Farm Bluesfests this year.
Based out of Williamsport, PA , Colin Beatty is the most seasoned band member having toured internationally on bass with national blues acts for a decade. He started out with Tas Cru out of New York, moved onto Gabe Stillman Band, Tony Holiday Band based out of Memphis, TN and currently backs Billy The Kid as one of the Regulators in his Pittsburgh area group.
Sean McIntyre is 30 years old and plays drums in one of the Philly area’s top Indy rock bands but his roots are with the blues. Sean’s experience has taken him all the way to Denver, CO and back with his band Stella Ruze and he brings the beat with him everywhere he goes.
