About this Event
The federal government is working to roll back one of the most important protections for our national forests.
Adopted in 2001, the Roadless Rule protects 58.5 million acres of national forest land, including about 2 million acres in Washington from new road construction, large-scale logging and mining. These “roadless areas” are some of the most intact wild forests we have. They protect clean drinking water, provide critical wildlife habitat, and offer unmatched opportunities to hunt, fish, hike, and camp.
You are invited to a Community Meeting on Roadless Forests on April 17. At the meeting, a wide range of leaders will share information about the importance of roadless areas. Attendees will have the option to share two minutes of personal testimony on the need to protect our national forests. Public comments on the proposed repeal of the Roadless Rule that will be formally submitted to the federal government.
