About this Event

NETWORKING LUNCHEON

Future of Greater Washington, D.C.: Adapting to a New Federal Landscape

The Greater Washington, D.C. region is at a pivotal moment as federal downsizing continues to reshape its economy, workforce, and real estate landscape. With 300,000 federal workers laid off, thousands of contracts and grants eliminated, and office leases terminated, the impacts have extended well beyond the federal workforce, affecting housing markets, employment trends, innovation, and long-term regional competitiveness.
Join the George Washington Chapter of Lambda Alpha International (LAIGW) for an engaging luncheon conversation with Tracy H. Loh, a Fellow at Brookings Metro, as we examine how federal workforce reductions from January 2025 have disproportionately affected the Washington region. Drawing on findings from the DMV Monitor, a new regional analysis, the discussion will explore the economic, real estate, and workforce implications of federal job losses, spending cuts, and office lease terminations across the National Capital Region.

Agenda Update and Networking Focus
We adjusted our LAIGW luncheon format in response to member feedback that emphasized the importance of meaningful connection and more time for informal networking. By beginning the program earlier, we are creating dedicated time after the presentation for lunch and informal networking, allowing conversations to continue and relationships to develop in a more relaxed setting. Please stay after the main program to discuss with the speaker, other members and guests with this change in agenda line-up.

  • 11:00 am – Check in begins with the registration desk for name badges
  • 11:30 am – Program Welcome and Introductions, followed by formal presentation and Q&A
  • 12:30 pm –Program concludes with lunch and networking
  • 1:30 pm – Event concludes

Please enjoy a variety of sandwiches, salad, water/soda, and cookies while informally networking after the main presentation.
