Future Founders Caerphilly: Turn Your Idea into Something Real ✨

Got an idea you keep thinking about?
Maybe you make things, design, cook, create content, fix things, sell online or have a skill that other people find useful. Perhaps you have already started a side hustle, or you are simply curious about working for yourself.
You do not need to think of yourself as a business owner. You do not need a business plan or a fully formed idea.
Future Founders is a free, friendly and practical workshop for young adults aged 18–24 who would like to explore self-employment, freelancing or turning an idea into something real.

📍 Twyn Community Centre, Caerphilly town centre
What to expect
The workshop will be led by Emily Hicks, with support and advice available from 12 organisations that help young people and new businesses.
This is not a formal classroom session. There will be no long lectures, no pressure to pitch your idea and no expectation that you already have everything worked out.
Instead, you will have the chance to:
✨ Explore the skills, interests and ideas you already have
✨ Work out whether an idea could become a product, service or side hustle
✨ Understand what people might pay for and why
✨ Learn simple, low-risk ways to test an idea
✨ Build confidence in talking about what you want to do
✨ Find out about local advice, opportunities and support
✨ Decide on one realistic next step
You will be able to ask questions and speak to the organisations that are most relevant to you. You will not be expected to speak to everyone or have a polished idea ready.
Is this session for me?
Future Founders could be for you if:
- You have an idea but do not know where to begin
- You have a hobby or skill that you might be able to earn from
- You have started selling something or offering a service and want some direction
- You are interested in freelancing or self-employment
- You would like to explore your options without committing to starting a business
- You want to meet people who can help you take the next step
You are welcome to bring a trusted person, support worker or someone who helps you feel more comfortable.
Optional Next Steps session
After Future Founders, you are also welcome to stay for our Next Steps event from 6pm–8pm.
This informal follow-on session will bring together experts and support organisations who can offer advice and direction. You can ask questions, explore the support available and identify who might be able to help you next.
By the end of Future Founders, we hope you will leave with more confidence, a clearer sense of what might be possible and one practical action you can take.
You do not need all the answers. You just need an idea, skill or spark that you would like to explore.
