FUSED GLASS CLASSES - LaVerne offers one workshop each week. This week's project is a mask.
Fused glass is an art form to make many beautiful products from glass. Sheets of compatible glass are cut into a design using a glass cutter or a saw. Designs can be enhanced with paint, glass noodles, frit, or other shapes of glass such as flowers, leaves, hearts, and a host of other products. The finished design is fired in a kiln to temperatures up to 1500 degrees.
After the design is fired it can be slumped in a mold or draped over a form to create a shape like a bowl or a vase. (I will fire and slump the projects at my studio).
There are a vast array of products, techniques and processes that are used to create fused glass art. In the art classes I am offering you will learn the basics of glass fusing and create a product each week that you will be proud of.
