Fused glass workshop

Join us (Sarah Quick and Sarah Aumayer) for one of our popular fused glass workshops where you can make your own unique and beautiful item for yourself or as a gift. In this workshop you have the opportunity to choose the size of your glass and it's final design - left flat as a PICTURE, HANGER, COASTER or "BOAT SAIL" or melted on a mould to create a CURVE - you decide on the day. You will create your own design on your chosen size/shape of clear base glass.

Suitable for complete beginners as well as those who’ve caught the fused glass bug! This workshop is not suitable for children and we only accept bookings for people aged 16 and over. Additionally anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult who also has a place booked on the workshop.

In this workshop you'll create your own design on a pre-cut flat piece of glass of 15x15cm, 10x10cm, 23x7cm or a 20cm tall sail. If you choose the smallest (10x10cm square) you get 2 to make a pair of coasters or 2 small pictures/hangers.

We'll have lots of ideas to inspire you, including a selection of photos and our own work. The photos give you an idea of the type of designs that you might create. We'll show you some basic cutting techniques to create your shapes, and give you tips on how best to get the finished look. Uncomplicated designs tend to work best, the beauty of the glass enhances even the simplest of patterns.

There will be the option to create an additional item on the day if you have time. The price, £20 or £10, will depend on the size of glass chosen.

Custom made wooden stands can be purchased on the day if you'd like to display your picture or boat sail (£3 - £5 dependent on design). Payments can be made by cash or card.

This workshop will be run in the modern annex of Christchurch Church, 16 Montpelier, Weston Super Mare BS23 2RH.

PLEASE NOTE - we'll take your finished piece away to be fused in a kiln. It will be available for collection a couple of weeks after the workshop. On the day we'll give options of when and where to collect. You can also choose to have your item posted to you for an additional charge of £5 payable on the day. Any items posted will be packaged in accordance with our normal standards but no responsibility can be taken if an item is damaged in the post.

Refunds and cancellations - no refunds will be given if you cancel less than 7 days before the event. If the event is fully booked, we will operate a waiting list on Eventbrite and you'll automatically be notified if a place becomes available.
