⋙ ⋙ Furrowed x Voice/Turntables/Drums/Cello/Sax ⋘⋘

We are exceedingly pumped about this residency :: The brilliant turntablist, sound artist & musician Furrowed will embark on a deep exploration of his new instrument (modified turntables) featuring multi-collaborations and two back-to-back shows in one week!
During the final night of his residency, sound-tattooing record-maker in residence, Furrowed will be performing new work exploring collaboration with Bunty (vocals /FX), Rival Self (Turntables), Alexander Painter (cello/sax/FX) and FROST (Drums).
This is likely to include improvisation, multiple discs, spaces, turntables and materials. For anyone who loves weird grooves, records and other one-off sonic happenings.
From piano to tape loops, vocalists to scratch DJ, synth fantasies to cello magic and a really epic drummer - we can’t wait to hear the fruits of this residency!

Furrowed (Dylan Beattie) makes and plays weird records. He is a producer, lecturer and sound artist using circuit-bent record making equipment and electronics to create one-off performances. As part of this unique approach, sound is ‘tattooed’ live to blank disc by hand as multiple pickups trace grooves in modified surfaces. His sonic palette ranges from electronic and melodic tones, to hypnotic and cross-rhythms, analogue surface glitches and sound fragments as he inscribes sound from various sources directly to disc. Locked grooves provide structure as records are overlaid with new sounds and artefacts from tonearm behaviours. Expect lo-fi looping, clicks, pops and crunch as records are made, celebrated and destroyed live.
rival self - turntables
Rival Self is a producer, DJ, turntable musician, cassette looper and visual artist. Well known in hip-hop circles for his experimental approach to traditional turntablism and dedication to meticulously crafted routines.

Frost - drums
Dale Frost aka FROST explores the intersection between live drums and electronic music. Using a drum kit and sampler he explores fractured polyrhythms, displaced beats, and glitched loops. Drawing from electronica, post-rock, and jazz - focus is on expanding a unique rhythmic vocabulary, blending the synthetic with the organic, and pushing the boundaries of live electronic performance from behind a drum kit.
Bunty – Voice /FX
Bunty is the avant-pop project of artist and vocal improviser, Kassia Zermon. Best known for pioneering underground experimental vocal loop shows and fronting UK leading Dub act Resonators. Bunty’s powerful one woman orchestra combines her love of sound art & sound systems with her West London and North African roots to create unique and expansive music. Live, Bunty uses her ever growing collection of toys & hand percussion with voice, effects pedals and a mash of real and made-up languages. She whispers, bellows, beatboxes, claps and stamps producing impressive vocal harmonies and fertile landscapes to bathe n’ bask in.
Alexander Painter - Cello/saxophone
Alex is a composer, songwriter, sound designer and multi-instrumental performer. Using cello, saxophone, piano and voice, he employs experimental techniques, DIY effects units, tape manipulation and improvisation to create a unique palette of sounds. As a solo live performer and collaborator Alex works with artists such as Orlando Weeks, Gazelle Twin, William Doyle, Tony Njoku, Mike Lindsay and Anna B. Savage.
