Have you had it in the back of your mind for a while that you would like to try your hand at restoring and refreshing your dated furniture?
About this Event

Learn the wonderful art of upcycling (no previous experience needed) from scratch whilst making some new like minded friends in a relaxed, supportive and beautiful environment.

Attending a furniture painting workshop is a fun and rewarding way of quickly and easily learning the skills required to get creative with your furniture and interiors. You will learn all about the preparation required for your furniture (no need for stripping, priming or heavy sanding), the different paints, brushes and other products available and the pros and cons of each. Also about the tips and tools of the trade and the wide variety of different techniques and ideas available for creatively painting your furniture.

You will be able to bring your own piece of furniture to transform using your newly learned skills during the workshop.

I will teach you a variety of painting techniques including:

  • One- coat distressing
  • Multi-coat distressing
  • Dry brushing
  • Blending
  • Glazing
  • Ageing
  • Crackling
  • Stencilling
  • Waxing
  • Preparation
  • Finishing and paint protection

You will be able to practice these newly learned techniques on a sample board (which will be yours to keep as a reminder) prior to painting your own piece. I will then discuss with you on a one-to-one basis your ideas and preferences for painting your furniture using your newly learned skills, and I will assist you (with as much or little advice as you would like) in transforming your piece into something wonderful during the second half of the day.

You will hopefully return home full of inspiration and the know how to continue with your own projects with the reassurance that I will be on hand to give you further advice and guidance after the workshop, if required.

Each workshop will run from 10am to 3pm with lunch break and plenty of coffee/tea/cake in between – Mum’s delicious homemade cream scones and gorgeous cakes are becoming rather renowned among workshop attendees!

Please don’t worry if you are a complete novice! I will explain everything from the beginning during the course.

The numbers are kept small (6 to 8) so I will be on hand for one-to-one instruction as much as you need during the day.

Everything you will need for the workshop will be included i.e. chalk paints, brushes, waxes, practice board etc.

The workshop is ideal for complete beginners, or for people who have tried their hand at furniture painting previously and would like to expand their skills.

I will explain all about how to prep your furniture before painting (it’s not as bad as you may think), the different branded paints available on the market and the pros and cons of each, differing brushes, tools, materials and protective products required for effective and creative furniture painting.

I will be there every step of the way to guide you and take you through the process at your pace. With such a small group, there is plenty of time for one to one discussion. Full workshop notes on paints, products and techniques and where to buy will be provided.

After the workshop you will be able to upcycle many of your own pieces at home having learned all about the different products and techniques. Please feel free to contact me after the day should you need any help or guidance.

The price includes lovely homemade cakes, cream scones, tea and coffee throughout the day.
