Ideal for hobbyists and craftspeople, you'll gain practical experience in our purpose built workshops.

What you'll learn
Throughout the 12 sessions you'll learn how to:
- Mark out and prepare timber accurately
- Use hand tools including saws, chisels and planes with accuracy and confidence
- Cut and fit traditional woodworking joints
- Hand-plane rough-sawn timber to a finished surface
- Sharpen and maintain woodworking tools
- Understand how timber behaves and how furniture is designed to accommodate movement
- Use selected power tools and workshop machinery safely
- Assemble, clamp and glue furniture components
- Prepare and finish timber surfaces using common industry finishing techniques
- Troubleshoot common woodworking mistakes and learn practical workshop tips from our experienced furniture maker
By the end of the course you will:
- Take home your own handcrafted hardwood side table, typically made from American Cherry
- Understand the fundamental principles of furniture construction
- Gain experience using both hand tools and machinery
- Develop practical skills you can apply to future home projects
- Build the confidence to continue your woodworking journey
- Have a strong foundation for progressing to more advanced furniture-making courses
Our Furniture Making Saturday School has a capacity of only 10 spaces. This small group setting allows each student to get more 1:1 time with the tutor, providing a more personal experience for all attendees.
This course is an excellent choice for those looking to enhance and refine their woodworking skills.

Refund policy:
- 100% refund if the learner has provided 4 weeks notice.
- 50% refund if the learner has provided 2 weeks notice.
- No refund if less than 2 weeks notice.
- If a learner wants to postpone to a later course date then this can be done with no impact on fees paid as long as we have 1 week's notice of their intentions.
