In the intervening 46 years Mark worked as a social worker (15 years) and then set up a small communications business, Create Services. He enjoyed success as a copywriter, creative writer and editor, highlights include penning a radio drama on Radio 4 and many years of writing excruciating puns on the Sunday People sports page.Seven years on from his second go at comedy, his one-line gags and puns are alwsus well received on the open-mic circuit. And with sets on Masai Graham's One-liner shows at Brighton, Edinburgh and Leicester Comedy Festivals, Mark's comedy journey shows that you're never too young or old to make audiences laugh.

In 2019, he launched the London-based 'Big Smoke Comedy', a show that combines an improvised finale with stand-up comedy, most recently featured in the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and also found each Thursday at BOXPARK Croydon. He has won the Blackout competition at Up-The-Creek in Greenwich, several improvisation 'Cage Match's at The Free Association Theatre, and been listed with one of 'The 40 Funniest Jokes At The 2023 Edinburgh Fringe' by The Telegraph. He has performed as far East as Belgrade (Ben Akiba) and as far West as Peoria (Jukebox). Brooke is an American who, after twelve years here, calls England (mostly) home.
