FRIDAY, JUNE 26 | 5:30PM | GATES 5PM: GEMINICRAB, SHEBAD & SNACKTIME
Montreal-based high soul music duo GeminiCrab consists of Félix Award winner/keyboardist/producer Caulder Nash (Jonathan Roy) and 3-time Grammy-nominated vocalist/producer Malika Tirolien (Bokanté, vocalist on Snarky Puppy’s Grammy-winning album Family Dinner). This new duo has steadily gained momentum with their captivating sound, combining R&B, soul, hip hop, and jazz, after experimenting with binaural recording technology. Their new album, Gen Y Lens (2024), embodies the sonic influences and social realities of millennials. Rémi Jean LeBlanc bass, Ronny Desinor drums
Ontario’s neo soul collective SHEBAD is the creative spirit of visual artist/vocalist Claire Voy and multi-instrumentalist Ciccio Spagnolo. Influenced by Stevie Wonder, Hiatus Kaiyote, Amy Winehouse, and Daft Punk, their music explores indie soul, jazz-influenced melodies, danceable basslines, and transcendent vocals. The band released their debut album Music is the Answer (2024) to extremely positive feedback, as well as praise from CBC’s Tom Power, Laila Biali, Rohit Joseph and more. Emil White keyboards/bass/saxophones, Bridget Walsh violin/trumpet/vocals, Emmitt Leacock drums/MC
Philadelphia’s beloved seven-piece soul/funk/alternative band SNACKTIME began in 2020, performing free concerts in the state’s Rittenhouse Square to huge crowds. Since then, they have emerged as a force to be reckoned with, selling out headlining shows and supporting tours for artists such as Portugal. The Man, Fitz & The Tantrums, Nathaniel Rateliff, and more. This is funky, feel-good brass at its best, exponentially touring and working on new music, with a stop at TD JazzFest ’s Bullen Park along their trajectory to stardom. Nico Bryant vocals, Michael Spearman trombone/keyboards, Eric Sherman trumpet/guitar, Austin Marlow drums, Larry Monroe Jr. guitar, Ben Stocker saxophones, Sam Gellerstein sousaphone/bass
SATURDAY, JUNE 27 | 7PM | GATES 6:30PM: WESLI & ETRAN DE L'AÏR
JUNO Award-winning singer/multi-instrumentalist/producer WESLI has become one of Haiti’s most inspiring musical ambassadors. Now Montreal-based, his unique compositions blend traditional Haitian rhythms with world music, afrobeat, hip-hop, soul, rara and roots music. He is a winner of the JUNO Award for “World Music Album of the Year” for Rapadou Kreyol (2019), as well as the Félix Award for the “World Music Best Recording” at ADISQ. Last in Victoria touring his JUNO-nominated album Tradisyon in 2025, he now brings his brand new album Makaya to Bullen Park! Cindy Belotte vocals, David Mobio keyboards, Watson Joseph bass, Michel Medrano Brindis drums, André Désilets saxophones/percussion, Kokou Damawou trumpet/percussion
Etran de L’Aïr (or “stars of the Aïr,” the mountainous region of Northern Niger) welcomes you to Agadez, the capital city of Saharan rock and desert blues. Beloved for their dynamic repertoire of hypnotic solos and sun-schlazed melodies, Etran stakes out a place for Agadez guitar music. Whereas other Tuareg guitarists look to Western rock, Etran de L’Aïr play in a pan-African style that is emblematic of their hometown, citing a myriad of cultural influences, from Northern Malian blues and Hausa bar bands, to Congolese Soukous. Etran’s sound reminds us that music can transmit a message while lighting up a celebration. This is music for dancing, after all. Moussa "Abindi" Ibra guitar/vocals, Abdourahamane "Allamine" Ibrahim guitar/vocals, Abdoulaye "Illa" Ibrahim bass, Alghabid Ghabdouan drums
SUNDAY, JUNE 28 | 7PM | GATES 6:30PM: THE RUMBLE f. Big Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. plus James Vickers Band
New Orleans’ GRAMMY-nominated supergroup The Rumble is more than just a band — it's an opportunity to be immersed in a wholly unique facet of New Orleans culture. Composed of Second Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. of the Golden Eagles, trumpeter Aurélien Barnes, trombonist José Maize Jr., bassist TJ Norris, guitarist Ari Teitel, keyboardist Andriu Yanovski, and drummer Trenton O’Neal, they fuse iconic New Orleans funk in the vein of The Meters and The Neville Brothers with electrifying brass and the singular visual splendor of the Black Masking carnival tradition. The Rumble's recent album, Stories from the Battlefield, received a GRAMMY nomination for “Best Regional Roots Album 2025.” Their live show is a symphony of rich colour and propulsive sound, with each member sharing vocal duties and engaging the audience in the classic Mardi Gras Native-American-style call-and response chanting.
Opening for this evening will be the Nanaimo-based up-and-coming blues-rocking James Vickers Band!
