A foray can be defined as "a brief excursion or attempt into something new, typically outside of one's usual area of expertise or activity." It shares roots with the word "forage," coming from terms related to 'searching for food'.
Do you want to hit the trails and take an excursion into something new? Let's go on a Fungi Foray! All are welcome, from absolute beginners, to the mushroom curious to the mycophile mushroom enthusiast. Come join us for an afternoon in the Ely area (location to be determined) looking for, gathering, and starting to identify wild fungi! Variety will be emphasized and encouraged (not just edibles). Upon return to the school, we will cover cleaning, preparing, storing and EATING some of our found fungi!
Class will meet and finish at the Ely Folk School; foray will involve an excursion to an Ely Area mushroom location. Students may caravan or carpool at their own preference. Students are recommended to have comfort with walking mobility over uneven ground.
