Fundraiser for new AEDs!

With your assistance, we hope to purchase four new AEDs that possesses advanced debifbrillation technolgy, supply real-time CPR feedback to ensure high quality EMS care, and provides post-call CPR data for provider improvement purposes.

As a student-run and not-for-profit EMS organization, we heavily rely on donations in order to appropriately run our organization and support our community with free emergency medical care. We hope to raise enough funds to assist us in paying for four new AEDs to provide the best available care for our emergency medical patients and to have consistent equipment across our emergency vehicles and with our partners at DC Fire and EMS.

GERMS currently operates the Physio-Control LIFEPAK 1000 Defibrillators but is looking to shift to the ZOLL AED 3 BLS model defibrillator. GERMS, under the leadership of then Captain Jack Childs, adopted the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DCFEMS) Patient Care Protocols in January of 2023. In a push to align with the DCFEMS transition from LIFEPAK to ZOLL AEDs and Cardiac Monitors, GERMS is looking to purchase 4 - ZOLL AED 3 BLS defibrillators. The ZOLL AEDs provide our crews with enhanced technology to care for patients. These AEDs have real-time CPR feedback on CPR rate and depth leading to high-quality CPR, integrated pediatric features allow universal AED pads, and WiFi connectivity allowing post call CPR data to be reviewed for quality improvement. Transitioning to ZOLL AEDs will also allow a seamless transition between GERMS BLS care and DCFEMS ALS care with compatible AED pads.
