Fundamental Class Details:
- Duration: 3-4 hours per session
- Frequency: Two sessions
- Location: MakerSpace Charlotte in Plaza Midwood
- Materials: All materials and tools provided, however, students have the opportunity to purchase alternative glass onsite. Glass is $15 per 12x12 sheet.
Class Overview:
This class provides a supportive environment tailored to all skill levels, especially beginners. We will use a template to create our stained glass corner windows. You can choose to complete the honeycomb or spiderweb corner and can choose to add a bee or spider charm to your piece upon completion.
Session One: Students will learn and perform the basics of glass selection, cutting, grinding, foiling, and burnishing. If you don’t finish foiling and burnishing your pieces in class, you will take your pieces home to complete foiling and burnishing. You’ll take a fid and plenty of foil to have your pieces ready for the next session.
Session Two: Students will learn and perform the fundamentals of soldering, cleaning, using patina, and wax or polish, as well as how to safely hang your finished stained glass piece. Students will use zinc came and zinc washers as hardware for this sturdy piece.

- How to create and secure a ring for hanging your piece
- How to neutralize the flux and clean your piece
- How to use patina to change the color of your finished piece
- How to clean, polish and then hang your completed piece

Who Should Attend:
Perfect for all skill levels, whether you’re starting a new hobby or deepening your stained glass skills.
AGES:
Class is open to ages 16 and up.
Please wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Sometimes solder splatters, so please consider wearing long sleeves. YOU MUST wear closed-toe shoes, tie back long hair, and wear glasses or safety glasses. Safety glasses are provided.
All supplies are provided, however, students are able to purchase alternate glass onsite. Glass sheets are $15 for one 12"X12" sheet.
Class may be canceled due to low enrollment in which case a full refund will be issued.

She has spent over a decade as a wand maker, and began her glass journey three years ago. Kenna is dedicated to sharing her knowledge, offering classes that inspire both beginners and seasoned artists to explore the beauty of stained glass. Through her art and teaching, she aims to foster a greater appreciation for this intricate and enchanting form of expression.
