Fund Schools Not Wars Picket

Join us for a picket in support of voting yes on the referendum to increase funding to Duluth Public Schools. We support a yes vote because we are against cuts that threaten jobs, programs, and services. At the same time, it is unfair that working people must foot the bill to salvage our underfunded educational system. Our system of funding education must be overhauled to escape the endless cycle of crisis. So, while we support a yes vote, we also want to highlight how the government has spent $45.1 billion dollars on an unpopular war with Iran. This is in additional to the $8 trillion spent on wars since 9-11. If a fraction of this money was instead allocated to public schools, we could reduce class sizes, hire more staff, improve pay and benefits, repair and update buildings, provide classrooms with resources and updated technology, fully fund special education, and address the countless other challenges faced by public schools.
