Functional Skills Standardisation: SLC (Entry 1 to Level 2) - ON SITE

Standardisation session for provider staff involved in assessing Functional Skills English Speaking, Listening and Communicating (SLC)
About this Event

This standardisation session will take place at Open Awards offices in Estuary Commerce Park, 17 De Havilland Dr, Speke, Liverpool L24 8RN.

It will cover Functional Skills assessments in Speaking, Listening and Communicating at Entry Level 1, Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

Everyone involved in the marking of Functional Skills assessments at a Provider must attend at least one external standardisation meeting on an annual basis. Failure to attend will result in approval to deliver Entry Level Functional Skills being withdrawn.

The session will include:

• the review of statistics related to SLC assessments
• exercises to include reviews of example assessments
• comparison activities/ discussions to include assessment decisions compared to the outcome of the activity

At the end of the session, participants will:

• be able to understand the Scopes of Study being assessed

• know how to assess learner performance accurately, reliably and consistently
• know how to deal with anomalies and responses that are difficult to judge
• understand the importance of internal quality assurance
• be able to complete the Record of Learner Achievement
• know how to maintain the security of assessment records
