Join us at Exeter Library for Fun with Fabrics, a free fabric workshop that's great for both adults and anybody over the age of 7, regardless of experience. Learn new skills and experiment with heat transfer printing & cyanotype to create fabric pieces that will be incorporated into a new textile artwork to be displayed at Exeter Cathedral.
The textile will incorporate a sense of time, history, mending and making anew looking at how the stories and images of the present and future, generated from workshop participants can be interwoven with past stories already told within the cathedral archive.
On the 12th October you'll have the chance to use heat transfer printing, You'll have some work to take away as well as leaving a small piece with the artist that will be added into the final commission.
On Saturday 26 October we'll use cyanotype on fabric and add stitch to our work from week 1.
The session will be led by multi-media artist Davina Kirkpatrick, whose artwork centres around the use of ritual and story, refuge and sanctuary. Find her work here www.davinak.co.uk and on Instagram at @davinakirkpatrick.
Suitable for adults and children over 7yrs old
Sessions are free to attend. You can book for one or both sessions, but places are limited so please let us know in advance if you can no longer come.
