The Grease, Steam, and Rust Association, Inc is proud to announce that they are continuing to solely host the parade for the 2024 Fulton Fall Folk Festival. Our tractor parade is one of the largest ones around, and usually lasts an hour to two hours. It begins near the Antietam Iron Works building on the west end of McConnellsburg and concludes at the Fulton County Fairgrounds on the east end of McConnellsburg, parading up Lincoln Way East.Registration forms for Float Entries, Dance Troupes, and Band Entries will be posted in August to this event, our Facebook page, and our GSR Website. The Form will also be found in the Fulton County News during September 2024.
Information for spectators for this year's parade is as follows:
Spectators can line up along Lincoln Way East starting at the intersection of Lincoln Way East and 1st Street. The Parade will continue East on Lincoln Way East and up Old Route 30, eventually coming to a conclusion at the Fulton County Fairgrounds. The announcer stand, as well as the judges, are located at the Fulton House on Lincoln Way East. If you want to hear each entry announced, you will want to be seated near the Fulton House.
**PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS AROUND THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTE 522 AND LINCOLN WAY EAST.** Traffic will be stopped mostly for the parade, but at various times throughout the parade, the parade will pause to allow traffic to pass through. Be alert.
**Our parade also still allows exhibitors to throw candy to children. Some candy does not reach all the way to the sidewalk, and can land on the parade path. Tractors however do not stop on a dime, so please advise your child to wait to grab the candy that lands on the parade path until a tractor/float is a safe distance away. CANDY WILL NOT BE THROWN UNTIL AFTER THE FIRST RED LIGHT ALONG THE ROUTE. IF YOU HAVE A CHILD THAT WILL WANT CANDY, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE ALONG THE ROUTE AFTER THE BANK!
**In order to ensure safety, the Grease, Steam, and Rust Association has partnered with the Pennsylvania State Police - McConnellsburg Sub Station, PennDot, and the McConnellsburg Fire Police to help us manage and maintain traffic leading up to and during the parade at various locations throughout the parade route.
Information for exhibitors in this year's parade is as follows:
- Tractors wanting to participate in the parade will line up along N 1st Street in McConnellsburg. First come, first serve. The earlier you line up on N 1st Street, the sooner you will appear in the parade. Most tractors will leave the Fulton County Fairgrounds to line up for the parade between 8 and 9 am. Please exit the Fairgrounds along Lions Park Drive and head West onto East 1st Street. You will cross through the intersection of East 1st Street and 522 North. This will loop you onto N 1st Street and place you in line. Please avoid driving down Lincoln Way East to line up. Traffic will be backed up early.
- Floats, dance troupes, marching bands and antique cars that are wanting to participate in the parade will line up along S 1st Street, near the old Fulton County Medical Center. You will line up by using East Maple Street off of Route 522 as your entry. You WILL NOT be able to enter S 1st Street from Lincoln Way East. Again, lineup is first come, first serve. Floats, bands, and dance troupes will be intermixed with the tractors. All antique cars are at the beginning of the parade.
- The parade will promptly start at 10:30 am. The McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company - Company 56 will signal the start of the parade by sounding the fire whistle.
- We ask that floats, dance troupes, and marching bands to please pre-register with us, if you are able. Registration forms will be advertised in the beginning of August, and a form will be posted on this page. We will stop accepting entries at 10am, so all information can be taken to the Fulton House to be read by the announcer. If you want your entry to be considered for judging, you must be registered by 10 am. Pre-registering gets you your number SO MUCH FASTER, and it's easier to assure the information provided is correct. The table to pick up your pre-register number/register will be located in front of Antietam Iron Works, at the corner of S 1st Street and Lincoln Way East.
Judging:
- Antique car exhibitors will be given a form and will judge each other's cars. The GSR Parade Committee will tally the scores at the conclusion of the parade, and we will present trophies to the first three places.
- Dance Troupes will be scored by the panel of judges located a the Fulton House. Each Judge will score each troupe out of 25 possible points. The GSR Parade Committee will tally the scores at the conclusion of the parade and we will present trophies to the first three places.

*** The winners are usually determined and announced on the Show Grounds within an hour or two from the conclusion of the parade. They will also be announced in this group, and on our main Facebook page. Winners will be contacted via the phone number that was used to register their entry.
Tractors that are exhibited on the Show Grounds for the entire weekend will be judged by a panel of Judges. Prizes will be distributed accordingly.

** In 2017, the GSR hired Michael Nelson of CPM Agriculture in Hagerstown, MD to film our parade using GoPro footage, mounted cameras, and a drone. He then condensed this footage into a 20 minute parade video. Please check out his amazing video from our 2017 Parade:
** In 2018, Jason Samuel, a follower of our Facebook Page and a fan of our parade, created this short YouTube video displaying some of the parade exhibits, including our awesome Steam Engines. Please check out his video here: Thank you, Jason!
