Glen Affric Munros
To complete the Glen Affric Munros in this trip, it is split into a single day first to complete the less remote Tom a' Chòinich & Toll Creagach, Glen Affric, followed by an expedition into the heart of Glen Affric to complete the other 6 Munros.
Day 1: Tom a' Chòinich & Toll Creagach
The first day of our Glen Affric adventure will see us tackling the two eastern Munros, a rewarding single-day hike of around 7–8 hours. This is the perfect way to warm up for the days ahead and to experience the stunning beauty that Glen Affric is renowned for. Even the drive to the starting point of these two fine Munros offers breathtaking scenery and sets the tone for what’s to come.
Please note: You’ll need to arrange your own accommodation for the night following this walk. AP Mountaineering will only be providing accommodation for the expedition portion of the trip.
Day 2 - 4: The Expedition - 6 Munros
We will tackle the 6 more remote and difficult-to-access Munros of Glen Affric on this expedition - Mam Sodhail, Càrn Eige, Beinn Fhionnlaidh, Sgùrr nan Ceathreamhnan, Mullach na Dheiragain & An Socach. Embarking on a truly unforgettable multi-day adventure. Exploring some of the most dramatic and remote mountains in Scotland. Over three days, we’ll immerse ourselves in the wild beauty of Glen Affric, staying two nights at the perfect base, deep in the heart of the area; the Glen Affric SYHA. A former stalking bothy on the Affric Estate, this friendly eco-hostel offers a unique stay and perfect location for us to target the most remote Munros of the trip. Utilising the hostel also means we can reduce the kit required as we won’t need out tents & stoves, making this a slightly lighter feeling trip than our Knoydart or Fisherfields expeditions.
On Day 2 we’ll make our way in to the hostel via a magnificent ridge traverse, summiting three outstanding Munros—Càrn Eige, Beinn Fhionnlaidh, and Mam Sodhail. Expect soaring ridges, sweeping corries, and breathtaking views as we cross high above this ancient glen.
Day 3 offers another spectacular day in the hills as we explore the heart of Glen Affric, tackling Mullach nan Dheiragain, Sgùrr nan Ceathreamhnan, and An Socach. Each peak offers its own unique character and panorama, with wild mountain paths and excellent ridges providing an unforgettably remote feel.
On Day 4 we’ll return from the heart of the glen, following part of the Glen Affric Kintail Way, a beautiful route that winds through ancient Caledonian forest and tranquil glens, bringing a perfect close to our mountain journey.
This is a truly rewarding multi-day walk — a perfect blend of challenge, wilderness, and the rare chance to experience some of Scotland’s finest Munros in one of its most spectacular settings.

Kit & Accommodation
The hostel (for nights 2 & 3), Glen Affric SYHA, offers basic facilities as an eco hostel and allows us to lighten our packs, as it provides beds and kitchen facilities. You’ll still need some expedition kit, including a sleeping bag, basic toiletries, and food for the trip. You can also purchase some meals and snacks at the hostel (Wee Shop Price List) to reduce weight, but you will still need to bring some provisions.

Changes to Exped Kit:
