About this Event
An enjoyable, fun evening allowing you to express your feelings through the vibrant beat of the drums, the rattles and, if you like to, your voice! Whether a complete beginner, a novice or an absolute professional drummer there is room for all.
We start the evening calling in the Goddess, grounding and centering and setting Full Moon intentions for letting go. For those that wish, we give gratitude for mama cacao and enjoy the warming energies as the warm liquid moves through the body. Herbal tea is available at no cost for those who prefer. We then begin our drumming rounds intuitively allowing the sounds to meld together dependent on who is playing. After several varied rounds we take a break whilst reflecting. We then begin drumming our final release as we vibrantly drum building to a crescendo for the end of the evening.
You will leave feeling invigorated, happy and relaxed and ready to get a great night sleep.
We invite you to bring along your own drum and/or rattle. A small number of spare instruments/drums will be available if you don't have your own.
Important Contraindication for Drinking Ceremonial Cacao
Cacao is a plant medicine whilst also being a superfood. It contains healthy fats and antioxidants, it energises and creates a feeling of bliss and happiness. Because cacao opens the heart and increases the blood flow, you might experience your heart beating faster. There are a couple of contraindications for the use of cacao:
- If you are pregnant, don't take too much or start with a low dose, because the theobromine in cacao will activate and stimulate your baby. This is similar to the effect of caffeine. It is however safe to drink cacao while pregnant. Please let us know if you are pregnant and taking the cacao in order to organise a correct dosage for you.
- If you are on a high dose of anti-depressant, or using MAOI based and SSRI types of anti-depressants, please be cautious. The tyramine and tryptophan in cacao can counteract medicines, especially in larger doses. Consult your doctor if you want to drink higher doses of cacao.
- If you have heart problems be careful. Just have a couple of tiny sips at most. This is because the cacao will stimulate the blood flow and increase your heart rate.
We are not doctors or physicians, we are unable to give any medical advice. When in doubt, always consult your doctor and/or pharmacist with regard to drinking ceremonial cacao. We take no responsibility for attendees choices whether to drink cacao or not.
