Second of a three part clinic series by Greg Dial (see more info in pinned post) When we think of balance, we usually think of the physical aspects of not falling down; but balance is about finding the middle, whether it’s equitation, emotion, or within your own mind. Balance not only contributes to the graceful flow of riding, but also helps preserve the longevity of the horse by addressing mis-alignments, improper carriage and unequal loading of the legs. Too, it fosters a horse that is “handier” in movement, and more trusting when asked to change rate, shape, direction or rhythm.
