About this Event

Mokuhanga is an ancient and traditional form of Japanese woodblock printing dating back to the 8th century. The mokuhanga technique differs from other relief printing in that it uses water-based inks (we will be using watercolours in this workshop), which give beautifully delicate, transparent layers of colour.

This is a multi block technique, whereby the design is built up by printing simple shapes on top of each other.

Absolutely no previous experience of painting or drawing is necessary to enjoy this absorbing and relaxing workshop.

These workshops are open to complete beginners as well as those who have some experience.

On this workshop you will design, carve and print your own design, burnishing by hand onto Western and Japanese papers.

A percentage of profits from every workshop will be donated to a mental health charity.

Cancellations/Refunds: You are confirmed on the class once your booking is received. If you are unable to attend due to illness or other reasons you do not have the right to a refund. If you wish to cancel your place on the course and transfer the place to a friend or colleague we can look to accommodate this, so please get in touch if this is the case.
