Hola Marikitass!
We're back with our delicious FUFA - Food for All / Comida para Todes a 2SQTBIPOC centered gathering with food and live music.
For our fourth iteration we will be featuring Ned Quintana and MUSA MAY CRY. Both are talented singer-songwriters who move in the indie genre and will delight and move us with their heartfelt lyrics and powerful voices. Musa May Cry just released a new single Jameson Fantasy that you can listen in all platforms or you can find at https://tinyurl.com/jamesonfantasy . Ned Quintana has released 4 albums in his career, you can find them on his spotify at https://tinyurl.com/nedquintana
Vending we have the incredible works by Kïkeyah and ABI SEWS THINGS. Kïkeyah Alina (she/her) is a xicana pilipina farmer and transdisciplinary artist. Her practice is rooted in the land and guided by trust and her blood. She is blessed by and most devoted to her relationship to earth and community. For abi it started as an endearing observation, in jest from kin. noting that abi (a person containing multitudes) does many many things. Truly embodying the concept, they are a multidisciplinary artist practicing movement through dance, singing, and visual arts in a variety of mediums. These sewing projects are inspired by the need to give new life to items, making life more accessible through practicality, connecting to ancestors, and finding body/gender euphoria. Their visual art and dance practice focuses conversation with kin of all realms and time, through code that extends our common spoken languages. abi balances artistic expression through an understanding of generational trauma, with generational knowledge and play.
All ticket sales and donations will be donated to grassroots organizations in Democratic Republic of the Congo.
As always our food will be vegan, nut and gluten free. This time we will be collaborating with Omar, a community member who also does community dinners. We will be enjoying fattoush salad, Yemeni lentil soup and a Yemeni veggy stew with rice. So come hungry!! You can find him @that_hadrami_guy on Instagram.
A big thanks to Community One foundation who awarded us a grant to make this possible, thanks to YouthLine for their support and PFlag for their donation. With all of their support we will be able to do this recurring event once a month providing free and low cost meals to our community.
Please buy the ticket price you are able to afford we want to ensure those who experience food insecurity and financial hardships are prioritized.
