Funk, Style, Quality—what more could you want? FSQ, the five-person production dream team with deep ties to funk progenitor George Clinton and beloved house duo Soul Clap, are dedicated to keeping the funk alive and bringing top-quality rhythms to your ears.
FSQ delivers on their name with groovy original dance tunes, remixes and jubilant DJ sets filled with deep cuts that seamlessly bring old and new school together. Resident DJ Chuck Da Fonk(a.k.a. Chuck Fishman), keyboardist /producer Morgan Wiley, guitar hero Tate Masimore, multi-instrumentalist One Era and hip-hop producer G Koop provide the manpower behind FSQ.
Chuck brings his infectious enthusiasm and encyclopedic musical knowledge to the decks, taking FSQ DJ sets into some of the funkiest corners of dance music, including deep Balearic grooves, rare P-Funk B-sides, '80s boogie funk, uncommon new wave 12"s, and modern underground house cuts.
Chuck and Clinton’s late nephew Sa'd "The Hourchild" Ali formed FSQ after hosting a fortuitous 2013 studio session with Dr. Funkenstein himself and Soul Clap. FSQ's breezy, funky debut, "Zulu Congo Call," followed in January 2014 on Soul Clap Records to dance media praise and support from Pete Tong.
FSQ has continued to serve up a quality selection of breezy, funky remixes for for 79.5, Damon Albarn, Macy Gray, Kraak & Smaak, Soul Clap and more, along with fresh originals on including
Midnight Riot Records, Ultra Music, Boogie Angst, Jalapeno Records, Wolf + Lamb, Bastard Jazz, and, of course, Soul Clap Records. Their 2020 debut album, Reprise Tonight, was lauded by Bandcamp, Francois K and Louie Vega. FSQ is currently sculpting an opus titled Nightlife Geography, an inspired ode to clubbing scenes of the past featuring their talented label mates, including Choosy Lover, Khyenci, XL Middleton and Moniquea, due early 2025.
