FSEA South Florida October Meeting - I-395 Project Tour

The I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project will improve three of the City’s key arteries that meet at the SR 836/I-395/I-95 (Midtown) Interchange. The Midtown Interchange, with an AADT of about 450,000 vehicles, is a crucial junction serving residents and tourists heading to major event venues, tourist attractions, the health district, courts, as well as the lively downtown and neighborhoods like Overtown and Edgewater. The project will feature several firsts for the area, such as the double-decking of SR 836, the construction of a distinctive six-arched signature bridge spanning roughly 1000 feet over Biscayne Boulevard and NE 2 Avenue, and the development of 33 acres of community spaces in partnership with the City of Miami.

Tour participants will see firsthand how the I-395 signature bridge is coming together. They will learn what it takes to build a structure that improves safety, mobility, and access, and will change the downtown Miami skyline for generations. Participants must sign the liability waiver and wear comfortable clothes suitable for walking and closed-toe, sturdy shoes.
