About the presenters:
Mario Verciani
Mario Verciani is the Co-founder and CEO of SmartCore Systems, a Miami-based structural health monitoring (SHM) company focused on improving condominium safety through the practical application of existing sensor technologies.
He became involved in SHM through his experience as a condominium board member in Miami. In the aftermath of Surfside and the heightened focus on building safety, he found himself having to reconcile established engineering practices with the responsibility of providing clear, reassuring answers to a deeply concerned community. While inspection frameworks remained essential, the moment highlighted the value of augmenting them with real- time performance data. This experience underscored the opportunity to integrate proven monitoring technologies that deliver continuous, objective insight into structural behavior and long-term resilience.
Before founding SmartCore, Mario built a career as an entrepreneur and investor in applied technology and hospitality, grounded in a disciplined approach to critical thinking and problem-solving. Across his ventures — including biodiesel micro-refinery operations in New York and the launch of commercial water filtration and carbonization systems for the hospitality industry — he has consistently been driven by the desire to challenge assumptions, improve efficiency, and create solutions that are more sustainable and beneficial for both people and the environment. These experiences strengthened his ability to evaluate complex systems, scale technology-driven operations, and translate innovation into practical, real-world applications.
Today, he collaborates with structural engineers, board members, legal counsel, and insurance professionals across South Florida to position structural monitoring as a proactive extension of traditional inspection frameworks — enhancing safety, strengthening risk management, and reinforcing confidence in building performance through objective, real-time data.
SmartCore Systems deploys and maintains monitoring systems that measure tilt, settlement, vibration, and structural movement, providing engineers with time-stamped, longitudinal data to support condition assessments, identify trends, and guide long-term building stewardship.
Amber Brown
Amber Brown is the North American Sales Director for Move Solutions, a structural health monitoring company focused on advanced sensing and AI-driven infrastructure intelligence. Through its proprietary software MyMove, Move Solutions ingests and centralizes data from a wide range of wireless sensors and third-party sources, applying machine learning–enabled analytics, automated anomaly detection, and real-time visualization tools. The platform transforms continuous, multi-source data streams into actionable insight, helping engineers and asset owners anticipate performance changes, identify emerging risks, and make informed decisions across buildings, bridges, rail systems and other critical infrastructure.
In her role, Amber leads growth and strategic partnerships across the United States and Canada, working closely with engineering firms, transportation agencies, rail operators, and private developers to implement proactive, data-driven monitoring strategies. Her focus is on helping organizations move beyond periodic inspections toward continuous performance data that strengthens safety, risk management, cost-efficiency and long- term asset planning.
