Join Faye Smith Academy (FSA) for a hands-on, two-day Bridal Hair Bootcamp designed for makeup artists, emerging hairstylists and beauty professionals who want to develop their bridal hairstyling skills.
Led by Master Stylists Faye Smith in West Kelowna and Catherine in Vancouver, this intimate training experience combines live demonstrations, guided practice and practical techniques you can continue developing long after the workshop.
With only 12 spaces available per location, you'll have the opportunity to practise, ask questions and receive guidance in a small-group learning environment.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
DAY ONE — BRIDAL HAIR BASICS
Build your foundation in the styles and techniques frequently requested by bridal clients.
We'll cover:
- Polished Down Styles: Creating soft waves, movement, texture and long-lasting finishes.
- Half-Up Bridal Hairstyles: Sectioning, shaping, securing and creating balanced, romantic styles.
- Braiding Techniques: Incorporating braids into modern and romantic bridal looks.
- Clip-In Extensions: Understanding placement, blending and using extensions to create fullness and length.
- Veils & Hair Accessories: Securely placing and pinning veils, combs and bridal accessories.
DAY TWO — BRIDAL UPDO BOOTCAMP
Explore updo techniques and learn how to create structure, shape and secure styles designed to last.
We'll cover:
- Classic Low Buns: Clean, elegant and timeless bridal updos.
- Modern French Twists: Creating a contemporary take on this classic style.
- Hair Padding & Structure: Using padding and strategic placement to build shape and volume.
- Extensions, Veils & Accessories: Finishing and securing your updos for a polished bridal result.
Throughout both days, we'll discuss practical styling techniques, product selection, preparation, pinning and troubleshooting.

Please note: This is an intensive skills-development workshop. Your results will depend on your existing experience, practice and continued development after the course. Two days of training are a starting point for building your skills, not a guarantee of mastery.
WHAT TO BRING
To get the most out of the hands-on sessions, each participant must bring:
- A long-haired mannequin head with suitable hair for bridal styling, plus a compatible stand. Alternatively a real person to use as your model.
- Professional hot tools, such as a curling iron or wand and straightener.
- Brushes and combs suitable for sectioning and styling.
- Sectioning clips, bobby pins, hairpins and elastics.
- Your usual styling products, including heat protectant, hairspray and texture products.
- Any clip-in extensions or hair accessories you'd like to practise with.
FSA may have a limited selection of products and tools available to share, but participants should arrive with their own essential kit.
A more detailed preparation checklist will be provided to registered attendees.

Duration: Two days, approximately six hours of training per day, plus a lunch break.
Class size: Maximum 12 participants.
