Fruit of the Spirit ’26 — Exhibition Private View
About this Event
Discover the deeply personal and spiritual journey behind the five-year creation of Carmella's powerful collection, Fruit of the Spirit.
Each painting in the series represents one of the nine attributes of God described in Galatians 5: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.
Created through prayer, worship and the layering of Scripture within the canvas, the works invite viewers into a space of calm reflection and spiritual encounter.
The journey began in the summer of 2019, inspired by a moment of stillness in her parents’ garden while reading the book of Galatians. The series took shape during the isolation of Covid lockdowns in Brighton and was completed more recently in Jersey. Accompanied by Dan Musselman’s Fruit of the Holy Spirit worship music, each painting became both a prayer and a meditation - a creative expression of faith.
This preview offers a rare chance to experience the collection in the city where it all started, before it travels to other galleries.
An Invitation to Reflect
Whether you come to explore the artwork, reflect on its spiritual themes or simply enjoy an evening of contemporary abstract art, there is something here for everyone to discover.
If the paintings speak to you, Carmella would love you to share your thoughts in the gallery’s comments book. A QR code will also be available for anyone wishing to support the exhibition, with donations helping towards the costs of bringing the collection from Jersey to Brighton.
