Kingston/Causeway/East Lake Heritage Walk - from trains to workers to wetlands and lots more! REPEAT - to celebrate one of the new Heritage Tours brochures
On this relatively short, but very varied, Heritage Walk, we will learn about Walter and Marion Griffin’s vision for Canberra, early settlement in the area, railways which came (and went), dairy farms that existed until the 1960s, a community which built its own hall, and the wetlands created when the Lake was flooded. We will even talk about Deep Time – but what about the future? What will the proposed East Lake area be like, and will we lose some of our heritage? Your guides will be Mark Butz and Mary Johnston.
Meet: the sign for the Canberra Railway Museum, 2 Geijera Place, Fyshwick. This is accessed from Cunningham St, Kingston.
The Walk is mostly on footpaths with a small section of track in the Wetlands. No dogs.
