Emanuel Skinner’s journey into electronic music began in Northern California during the early ‘90s, where he discovered his passion for house music at raves featuring DJ collectives like Wicked Sound System and Sunset Sound System. Inspired by the artistry of blending records, he revisited his vinyl collection of old school hip hop, funk, and disco, which sparked a deeper dive into DJing. Investing in Technics turntables, he started collecting records from Detroit, Chicago, New York, and the UK, cementing his place in the San Francisco deep house scene alongside his friend Miguel Migs. In 2000, he embarked on a life-changing journey to Thailand with two crates of vinyl, where he became a revered figure in Bangkok’s burgeoning house music scene, holding residencies at iconic venues like Tapas Room and Bed Supperclub for over a decade. His influence expanded to the tropical island of Phuket, where he performed at top resorts, full moon parties, festivals and beach clubs. His career flourished with performances in over 15 countries across Southeast Asia and Mexico.

Ivan is a staple of the local San Francisco underground music scene, celebrated for his ability to blend obscure, left-field electronic tracks with a signature mix of downbeat and house music. With deep roots in the Bay Area’s iconic music institutions, Ivan’s career has been shaped by his time working at Amoeba Music, Tweekin’ Records, In-House Records, Primal Records, and TRC Distribution—establishments that not only defined the city’s musical landscape but also enriched his extensive knowledge of music history.

You can catch Ivan playing his unique and thumping grooves up and down the Bay Area, bringing a fresh perspective to underground electronic music.
