In both 12 week class series we use the 7 energy centers as a framework for the exploration of contact improvisation. The Wednesday 1.5 hour class is a foundational series. This class series is oriented towards beginners and those who want to move at a slower pass so that foundational principles can be more fully embodied. This series works with deepening our capacity to listen and respond through touch, clarifying our relationship to the ground through our own and partner’s bodies, integrating our whole body for ease and optimal flow in order to deepen somatic communication with ourselves and our partners.
The Tuesday 2 hour class series assumes that foundational principles are already significantly embodied. We work with expanding our range of physical, improvisational and perceptual skills, including: developing a greater adeptness to modulate tone in any part of the body at any time, co-creating in spherical space and incorporating a larger breadth of improvisational skills with physical skills. To nurture improvisational skills we use elements of authentic movement and active witnessing. We develop our skills of moving from listening to the unknown and supporting others in their improvisational movement while staying authentically connected to ourselves.
Tuesday class prerequisite: You are able to consistently organize your body in relationship to the point of contact and the ground and you are able to modulate your weight in 3D space while staying in contact with partner so that there is a consistent flow of communication.
Tuesday 2 hour Intermediate/Advanced Class 5:15 - 7:15 PM September 16 - December 9 (no class Nov 4) 12 week session at the Boulder Circus Center. Designed for those with a solid embodied understanding of CI foundational principles.
