About this Event
The University of Baltimore Law Forum presents this symposium that will explore the Maryland Expanded Voir Dire Pilot Program and examine its potential implications for the jury selection process. The program will feature discussion of the policy and constitutional considerations surrounding both judge-led and attorney-led voir dire, as well as insight into the practitioner perspective. Panelists will address how expanded voir dire in Maryland may affect trial strategy, the use of peremptory challenges, and decision-making during jury selection.
The Symposium brings together Professors, Judges, and Practitioners that come from a wide range of legal backgrounds to offer diverse viewpoints on these issues. We are especially pleased to welcome Judge Ripken, Chair of the Expanded Voir Dire Pilot Program Advisory Board, as our keynote speaker. This event aims to provide a deeper understanding of how the proposed change may impact practitioners and the administration of justice across the State.
