How are sediment dwellers, fish, fish consumers, and human health connected in the St. Louis River? Join the St. Louis River Alliance and St. Louis River Area of Concern partners on Thursday, May 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Clyde Iron Works (2920 W Michigan St, Duluth) for a special event ‘From River Bottom to Kitchen Table - Links in the Estuary Food Chain’.
This event is free and open to the public; no registration necessary. Free pizza will be served.
Come learn how critters that live in our riverbed form the foundation of the food chain and how they are beginning to recover after the completion of several remediation and restoration projects. Hear reflections from a local resident on what fishing was like before the cleanup efforts began and the changes they've seen in the river since. You’ll learn about Minnesota and Wisconsin fish consumption advisories and how fish recovery is expected to progress as the St. Louis River continues to heal.
Meet representatives of area fishing groups and fisheries managers and ask them your fishy questions, share fish tales, and learn about fishing opportunities in the estuary. Even if you don’t fish, the story behind this food chain will intrigue you.
