From Reproductive Rights to Reproductive Duties?

The idea of reproductive rights is widely accepted. But rights are usually correlated with duties. What might such duties look like in the context of reproduction? What happens when an individual's rights to choose or reject parenthood conflicts with social, political or environmental concerns?

Our public panel will address these questions in the context of a world where climate collapse and inequality threaten future generations, while at the same time, science offers an increasingly bewildering array of reproductive technologies; where fertility rates in the developed world are plummeting, and pronatalist rhetoric is making a reappearance in mainstream politics. Discussion chair Associate Professor Mianna Lotz (Macquarie University), will guide our panel of international experts through these challenging issues and more!
