ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: Dr. Weller will discuss the journey from Renaissance art to modern film which personally led to his PhD and an alternate career as a published art historian, including first book, Leon Battista Alberti in Exile, with Cambridge University Press. His entertainment will be followed by a book signing.
A limited amount of Dr. Weller's book Leon Battista Alberti in Exile: Tracing the Path to the First Modern Book on Painting will be available for purchase at this event. The book is also available for pre-purchase to be signed at the event.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Dr. Peter Weller is a noted actor, director and Italian Renaissance art historian and jazz musician. His career in the theatre includes original New York productions of David Mamet’s THE WOODS, David Rabe’s STICKS AND BONES and STREAMERS and William Mastrosimone’s WOOL GATHERER. Among his films he is known as the star of the iconic Robocop, Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Naked Lunch, The New Age, Mighy Aphrodite, Star Trek Into Darkness, Dexter, 24, Cabinet of Curiosities. As director he helmed Elmore Leonard’s Gold Coast, received an Oscar nod for Best Live Action Short Film and executed episodes from Homicide to Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Tyrant, and Hawaii 5-0 amongst others. In addition to a half-century career in theatre, film, and television, Dr. Weller received his PhD in Italian Renaissance Art-Intellectual History with a minor in Ancient Rome from UCLA. “Leon Battista Alberti in Exile” is Weller’s first book.
ABOUT THE CLUB: Founded in 1925, the Los Angeles Breakfast Club still thrives with food, friendship, and fun. Our meetings are held in our clubhouse, Friendship Auditorium, located at 3201 Riverside Drive, near the corner of Los Feliz Boulevard, in Griffith Park.
